Case Study: Autism CRC: inclusionED

About the organisation

inclusionED is an initiative of Autism CRC, the independent national source of evidence for best practice concerning autism across the lifespan and the spectrum.

inclusionED is a professional learning community and website dedicated to fostering inclusive schools and supporting teachers to meet the needs of diverse learners, including autistic students. Co-designed with educators, inclusionED offers evidence-based strategies, resources, and classroom practices for teachers and school leaders to support diverse learners.

The need

inclusionED is a suite of evidence-based and research-informed teaching practices and resources. The eLearning modules inform and guide pre-service and current educators in accessing and implementing these teaching practices to respond to and support neurodiversity in classrooms. Hypothetical case studies and reflection activities further demonstrate how educators can implement these readily available teaching practices to meet the needs of diverse learners.

The learning solution

We developed two separate inclusionED eLearning packages. They were designed with accessibility in mind, ensuring they are WCAG 2.2 compliant.

One eLearning package is a set of seven modules designed to help pre-service and current educators respond to and support neurodiversity in primary and secondary school classrooms.

The other eLearning package is a set of seven modules designed to help pre-service and current educators respond to and support neurodiversity in early childhood learning environments and classrooms.

The outcome

Hungry Minds has a vast and positive history of working with Autism CRC on similar projects. It is because of our past success with Autism CRC projects, that we had the pleasure of bringing the inclusionED eLearning packages to life.

Initially, we developed a set of seven modules targeted for pre-service and current educators in primary and secondary school classrooms.

After such a positive response to that initial suite of modules, the project was later extended to develop another seven modules targeted for pre-service and current educators in early childhood classrooms.
