About the organisation

The MacKillop Institute drives positive cultural change, safety and wellbeing in workplaces and schools. They do this by providing evidence-based training, courses, workshops and professional learning. Drawing from MacKillop Family Services’ frontline experience, the Institute uses this wealth of ‘on the ground’ experience to deliver effective, practical solutions. Their programs aim to strengthen prevention and responses to sexual exploitation of children and young people, provide trauma-informed education models, and provide workplace culture-change models.

The need

The MacKillop Institute previously only delivered a face-to-face ‘Power to Kids’ workshop. To expand the program’s reach and accessibility, they wanted to introduce an eLearn series as pre-learning for participants of the workshop. The target audience for the eLearns is busy professionals who work with children and young people, therefore, learner engagement and ‘bite-sized’ learning was a key part of the brief for this project.

The learning solution

The eLearning series features impressive custom graphics and diagrams by Hungry Minds in-house UI/UX designer for a high-impact, on-brand look and feel.

Designed to engage diverse learning styles, the modules incorporate videos, interactive elements, and additional reading resources.

Hungry Minds expertly delivered complex and serious topics with an uplifting and inspiring approach, creating a hopeful, informative, and engaging learning experience.

To enhance engagement, Hungry Minds also produced animated videos in-house to bring key messages to life.

Tailored for professionals working with children and young people, each module takes 15–20 minutes to complete—ideal for a lunch break or commute to work.

The outcome

This project marks Hungry Minds’ first collaboration with the MacKillop Institute. During the process, it also led to a new opportunity to collaborate with another department of the MacKillop Institute on a separate project.

Hungry Minds looks forward to continuing its collaboration with the MacKillop Institute to create programs that make a positive impact in the lives of children, young people and the community.
